Depression

We all feel down or “blue” from time to time or we might feel upset or disappointed occasionally. These common feelings tend to pass fairly quickly seemingly without having too much impact on us.

Depression, on the other hand, is an intense, ongoing state that significantly and negatively impacts day-to-day functioning, leaving you feeling unmotivated and worthless. Things that were once enjoyable no longer hold any interest for you.

Sometimes the issue or events that led to the overwhelmingly negative feelings are obvious, but sometimes there doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason for why you feel so down. We can help you understand what lead to the depression and give you strategies to shift the depression, leaving you much more confident that you can cope with the challenges life throws at you.

The Beyond Blue website has useful depression symptom checklists and general information about the different types of depression.
