Seniors Week – 1st-10th April, 2016
Most people fear the loss of health and physical strength as they age.
Changes to sexuality, physical attractiveness and identity are major issues associated with aging, but they are the very issues that are awkwardly handled if not ridiculed. It’s not surprising then that many seniors feel invisible and overlooked. But remember, seniors are major contributors to the health and wealth of the community.
Seniors deserve to be seen, deserve to be noticed and more importantly to be valued. We would do well to learn from our elders.
Pay attention to the people you love; don’t accept depression or anxiety as part of aging, it isn’t necessarily so. If you are concerned about someone you love, talk to him or her. Tell them you are concerned, and ask what you can do to help.
